Antinori

To any self-respecting wine lover, Antinori what Verdi is to the opera lover: the reference – notably thanks to its two iconic wines, Solaia and Tignanello, the two “Super Tuscans” which, since the 1980’s, have enjoyed a worldwide reputation and are now cult wines.

Most of Antinori’s estates are in Tuscany, Umbria, Piedmont, Lombardy and Puglia but the group is also present in Hungary, Romania, Malta, Washington State, California and Chile.

The Antinori family has been making wine since 1385, a year when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined L’Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the winemakers’ guild of Florence, according to an archive document.

In 2017, Marquess Piero Antinori handed the baton to his daughter Albiera, who now runs the company. With her two sisters Allegra and Alessia, who oversee the daily activities of the various estates, she manages a true wine empire, aided by a dedicated team who shares the family’s philosophy.

The leitmotiv in this 26 generation-story is the respect for the terroirs from where the wines come and their traditions.

On the other hand, the Antinoris have always had an innovative spirit and a taste for challenge.

Proof of this are the investments made in the cellars which are not only superb architectural achievements, but also state-of-the art winemaking tools. At Antinori’s, everything is always well thought out, and for the long run. And the family never skimps on quality.

Experience and openness are two key elements in the corporate philosophy, as well as the capacity to understand and interpret. As Albiera Antinori once said: “We must keep our eyes open on three aspects: the understanding of what the best things each terroir can give in terms of wine ; the understanding of the customers’ habits and tastes – not only to try to respond to them, but to anticipate them; and last but not least, an efficient organization on our part”.

The key word at Antinori’s is elegance. The Italian stylishness appears in all their wines, all over the world.

As once said Marquess Piero: “What we always have to have in mind is to make the perfect wine”.

Antinori is a member of the Primum Familiae Vini association and is the 9th oldest family company still in activity in the world.
